Sea the Weed
Ceremony, Science and Snorkelling
“Be grounded in traditional ways and be guided by experts as you swim amongst thousands of extraordinary aquatic species. Touch and view the magical Phyllospora Comosa 'Crayweed', a remarkable ocean species holding carbon and feeding thousands of thriving fauna. “
From Palm Beach to Cronulla, AIME Aboriginal Indigenous Mentoring Experience's ocean ambassadors are reviving crayweed forests destroyed by decades of pollution. ‘Sea the Weed’ is an event about restoring entire ecosystems and our relationship with the ocean.
Every month, AIME invites underwater enthusiasts of any level of experience on an extraordinary underwater reforestation reveal at beaches around Sydney. I joined AIME to capture one of their ‘Sea the Weed’ sunrise events, incorporating ceremony, science and snorkelling.
