Production Work
I am a producer and director dedicated to shaping and sharing stories with integrity, honesty, and authenticity. While my expertise lies in underwater video production, my work, both below and above the ocean’s surface, is driven by a passion for sharing impactful stories. My portfolio includes work on short—and long-form productions for ABC, National Geographic, and Disney+.
I love researching and developing production treatments and shoot outlines. I can confidently lead interviews with key talent and craft scripts and creative shot lists for local and remote crews. I am versatile, adaptable, and willing to take on various responsibilities on location. I aim never to stop learning and wear many hats in the field (literally and metaphorically - sun safety is essential).
I have successfully coordinated numerous complex international multi-crew shoots in remote locations, often focusing on the underwater world and navigating the additional complexities associated with filming in remote environments. I have overseen several high-profile shoots in remote locations, confidently handling day-to-day shoot logistics, briefings, dive plans, and team management. Building rapport and relationships with people from all walks of life is one of my strong suits, and I prioritise collaboration and compassion on set. I work closely with safety team members, including Skippers and Dive Supervisors, to establish the safest working environment and communicate this information to all crew members through on-location briefings.
Most of my production work can be found on Grumpy Turtle Films. Scroll down to see recent work, or check out my CV.
National Geographic: Secrets of the Octopus
For 18 months, I was part of the core crew, travelling to numerous international and domestic locations for shoots lasting up to six weeks on the three-part blue-chip natural history series Secrets of the Octopus, executive-produced by James Cameron.
I held multiple roles, including Associate Producer, Safety Diver, and Production Manager.
ABC: Maggie Beer’s Chef Challenge
Join some of Australia's most loved chefs as they whip up a culinary creation dedicated to an older loved one and meeting Maggie Beer's Big Mission aged-care criteria.
Maggie Beer’s Chef Challenge is a six-part short-form series for ABC iview. It aims to support the Impact Campaign for ABC TV’s Maggie Beer’s Big Mission by sharing the stories of other chefs passionate about tackling the aged-care crisis.
I developed, produced and directed Maggie Beer’s Chef Challenge. The series rolled out on iview, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, resulting in millions of views.
ABC: The theatre-loving student who united his year group
From pursuing his love of theatre and music to breaking down barriers between students at school, high schooler James Carey is unstoppable.
This is a story I produced and co-directed for ABC Arts. The video has been viewed over 300,000 times on Facebook.
National Geographic Society: Dr Alex Schnell demystifies what humans know about octopuses
Marine biologist and National Geographic Explorer Alex Schnell’s research is contributing to humans' expanding but limited understanding of the mysterious lives of octopuses, their cuttlefish relatives, and other species.
I worked with Director Lindsay Blatt to field direct the Sydney component of this video, which included shooting Alex on a dive boat, snorkelling, and exploring tidal rock pools with her daughter.
